The long windy road to reach Nassfeld (at least from the direction we were driving) is absolutely beautiful and terrifying at the same time. But when you reach the top, you’re in for a treat!
For starts, this little ski resort is all you’ll find on the top of these Austrian Alps, which makes it perfect for winter sports. We went twice this season and enjoyed both times.
The first trip consisted of sunshine. Being able to see the landscape is marvelous and memorizing.
Nassfeld has some outstanding views!
However, the snow was compacted, which felt like landing on hard ice when falling: ouch!
If you get hungry or thirsty while sloping yourself, no worries, take a pit stop at their restaurant on top of the mountain.
You can truly relax here because your gear is safe outside.
They even have a cute fireplace to keep warm.
Sip some hot cocoa or a glass of mull.
During the second trip to Nassfeld it snowed the whole day!
This meant it was extremely cloudy and the fresh snow made the runs easier on bodies, just for those falling moments (;
The ski resort opens at 9am and we arrived an hour early, so we decided to have breakfast at the cafe just outside the main ski lift. Austrians know how to eat, yum!
There are maps all over the resort. Overall, Nassfeld is filled with blue and red runs (which are easy and moderate slopes). There are also a few advance black runs.
The resort makes it convenient to take a look at a map before deciding to ride the mountain.
This is us taking a break to make sure we are going down the right (blue not red) run. There are labels and signs along the runs, so you know where to go.
I thought I’d shoot some video the second time around, since I’m getting better and better at this sport! Mind you, I’ve only been snowboarding for a total of 5 times. I blogged my first time, and you can check it out here: First Time Snowboarding.
I made this short video from our day on the slopes, Check it out!
Fyi, I felt little kid excited to be snowboarding, which explains my goofiness (:
