Back in the summer of 2013, we took a trip to the famous South Korean Mud Festival at Daecheon Beach in Boryeong city and we had a blast!
It was so much fun and made me feel like a kid again!
The mud festival is full of games and blowup toys. You can climb, slide, and/or jump into all things with mud.
And if that doesn’t dirty you up then watch out for the mud-slayers walking around because they won’t be afraid to throw some all over you (just don’t let it get into your eyes, ouch).
It’s next to the refreshing Daecheon beach.
You could choose to take a dive in the free ocean to clean off the mud or the festival has shower trailers for a little cost. We did both. However, the Korean culture is different, than that of an american locker room, when it comes to privacy. The shower trailers are separated for male and female, but consist of a small changing area and a large open shower room.
The Mud Festival is smaller than what most of the Youtube videos hype it up to be. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely worth going to (because who doesn’t like being covered in mud), but it’s only about as big as a parking lot.
If you’re planning on taking a trip to the mud festival in South Korea, which happens once a year, then click here for more information 🙂
Note: These pictures were taken with my phone’s camera at the time, so they’re not high quality nor do they give the mud festival justice. I also stored my phone in a locker for most of the day while getting coated in mud.
